Gyms
Unless you live out in the country, there's probably a variety of gyms for you to choose from. To narrow down the choice a little it helps to try and figure out what type you want - there are gyms that cater for women, for families, for hard core body builders, and some which combine the best attributes of all these.
Another alternative is between the leading national chains and smaller, more personal gyms. The big chains usually offer larger facilities, with a greater range of equipment, and can sometimes be less expensive. However, a smaller local facility is much more likely to make you feel at home.
When choosing between the various options, one big consideration is price. You will find big differences in monthly membership costs, but it's important to look at what competing places offer. Some all inclusive memberships can actually be a better deal than a less expensive one that requires you to pay for anything beyond the basics.
Before you make your decision it's essential that you visit a club, particularly at peak times. A club that looks great at ten o'clock in the morning could be packed to capacity at 6:00 pm. Other considerations will be where the gym is located - easy to get to from work, or close to home? What equipment they offer, and also what is the ambience. If you're twenty years old and single you'll probably want a different atmosphere from the club where your parents work out.
So look around, visit several places to compare, make your choice. Then it's time to load up the bag and head out - your workout is calling!
