Crunch

Since its humble beginnings as a bare-bones basement aerobics studio in Manhattan's East Village in 1989, Crunch has grown dramatically. They now have over twenty gyms in eight major US cities. Although they now offer a wide range of facilities, their central philosophy hasn't changed - it's OK to have fun at the gym.

Crunch see themselves as a growing movement - their goal is to create an environment where members don't feel self-conscious and don't worry about what others think. At the heart of this are their staff - an experienced group dedicated to creating a unique environment where everyone feels accepted.

In the early days instructors were a mix of rappers, drag queens, actors, dancers and professional athletes, and though they are all certified trainers these days, they still offer a range of fun and original classes, including Cardio Striptease, BOSU Bootcamp and Kama Sutra Yoga.

Other offerings include:

  • Boxing/Kickboxing
  • Cardio
  • Flexibility
  • Martial Arts
  • Sculpt
  • Water Fitness
  • Yoga/Wellness

In addition you will find personal trainers with backgrounds that include strength training, yoga, kick-boxing, pre/post-natal, marathon training and rehabilitation. They will work with you whatever your experience to help you meet your goals.

So if you want somewhere that's a little different and a lot of fun, this may be the place.
