Sports camps for kids
For many Americans, summer means summer camps. Summer camps come in all types, from small to big, from day camp to eight week sleep away camps. One popular type of camp is sports camps.
Think of a sporting activity, and chances are there's a camp dedicated to it. Fancy team sports? You can choose from basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, or field hockey. Individual sports include tennis and golf, or 'conditioning' sports such as swimming and running. And if you have a taste for the more esoteric you can sign up for activities such as lacrosse or water polo.
What they all have in common is the chance to get a way for a few days (or a few weeks!), practice your skills, improve your conditioning, and spend time around individuals with a common interest. As the popularity of camps has grown, so has their availability. There are now camps offered during all the major school holidays, giving kids the chance to work on their skills throughout the year.
There are also many themed sports camps, including water sport camps and outdoors camps, where you can learn a variety of skills and activities not readily available otherwise. And parents, if your kids' activities look like fun to you, then check into the growing number of family or adult camps - after all, why should your kids have all the fun?
