Golf Training
Although many golfers still simply pay the game, most have come to realize that there are huge benefits for their golf game from improved fitness.
Furthermore, it's relatively easy to perform most of what you need to get in shape for golf without leaving the house. With just a minimum of equipment, you can work the following areas: -
Stretching: Golf requires good flexibility, especially in the shoulders, low back and legs. Keeping these areas flexible will not only improve your game, it will also reduce the risk of injuries. Those who have minor injuries, particularly to the low back, may even find them improving.
-
Strength training: Developing increased functional strength can dramatically improve your performance. This does not require you to become a body builder, merely perform regular exercises for the key muscles involved in the game - in particular your shoulders, triceps, forearms, core, and legs.
-
Cardiovascular training: Cardiovascular training will help in two ways. Firstly, it's likely to reduce your weight, which can benefit many areas of your life. Secondly, it will improve your endurance, making it much more likely that you'll play the 18th as well as you played the first.
You'll only need a few pieces of equipment at home to perform these workouts: -
Weighted club
-
Stability ball
-
Exercise bands
-
Dumbbells
-
Medicine ball
What's great is that none of these are expensive, and they don't take up much room. For advice on specific exercises, you can turn to a personal trainer, or refer to any of the numerous web-sites, books or videos on golf and fitness.
